Sleep Apnea Treatment

Snoring is usually a harmless habit, if an annoying one. Most of those who snore don’t even realize they do so until they’re informed by a family member or a tired partner. Did you know, though, that this habit can be an indicator of a much more serious problem? Chronic snorers may be suffering from sleep apnea, a potentially dangerous condition that can lead to daytime exhaustion, painful headaches, and other symptoms that are disruptive to your life. Here at the office of Dr. Jack Siegrist, our dental team can provide assistance in combating sleep apnea and help you finally get a good night’s rest again.

What is sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea is characterized by constant, brief interruptions to your breathing while asleep – sometimes up to over a hundred instances in a single night. This happens because of a narrowing or even collapse of throat tissues, which blocks air from reaching your lungs and causes your blood oxygen levels to plummet. This leads to your brain sending out an emergency signal for you to wake up so that you reestablish the air flow. While many patients are awake so briefly that they don’t even remember in the morning, sleep apnea is still a constant disruption of your sleep cycle that can lead to uncomfortable consequences.

If you think you might be suffering from sleep apnea, please talk to your general doctor or a sleep specialist. Once you’ve been diagnosed, Dr. Siegrist and the rest of our team can provide you with a solution to your sleep woes. We’ll design a custom-made oral appliance (commonly known as a snoreguard) for you to wear comfortably during sleep. This snoreguard ensures that your airways will stay open throughout the night, allowing you to avoid lapses in breathing and finally get the uninterrupted rest of you deserve.

Our patients’ comfort and satisfaction are important priorities for our dental team, and we can’t wait to welcome you as the newest member of our practice.
